Anyone have any experiences of this? Whenever anyone rings my landline and they get the call waiting it disconnects me from my dial-up (Eircom flat-rate 25) I wonder is there anyway of stopping this without cancelling call waiting?

    Any help is appreciated.

MODS: I'm not sure where this should go, but I'll chance it here or the broadband forum but I'll chance it here anyway. :)

check the phonebook or ring eircom for the prefix to temp. disable call waiting (i.e. You add a prefix to your Dialling Rules) and it'll be disabled while you're using your DUN only..

    Edit: http://support.eircom.net/nbkblink.asp?case=2464

Why would a dial up networking issue go in Broadband? (Here or Net/Comms)

I expected the first response to be: Get Broadband, and since I didn't see it...

    Get Broadband.

It will change your life, seriously.

Maybe he can't for some reason... or doesn't feel his internet use justifies the cost.

Anyway, I had the same issue back in my dial up days and as far as I can remember you have to disable call waiting, there's not really any other way (well, there wasn't a year and a half ago)

Well, you're not really going to want to Hold Call even if the modem/software permitted:)
So, add it to the dialling rules and call waiting is temporarily disabled.

I wish, But my exchange isn't enabled ! I use Satellite one-way and have to use dial-up as part of it. I will pre-programme the codes into my phone and label them Call-Waiting on & off, so i can quickly turn it on & off before i go online and after I come off.

Thanks for the help fellas anyway!
