Mods - sorry about posting this here but need a quick answer.

Girlfriend's on the dole and is unsure of whether she had to collect any benefit this week.. Friday is the last day to claim it and she's rang the local Social Welfare / Post Office and gotten no answer from either.

So was there was any this week - or will it resume as normal next week?

    Thanks in advance!

Bit unfair to generalise as junkies considering there are some people who just genuinely find it difficult to get work!

    Anyone confirm this anyways?

According to the news on the radio just now they are scrapping unemployment benefit! :v:

... before you panic its changing to job seekers benefit. If your not looking for a job you don't get paid.

What is it about the Irish government, they havent minds of their own.
Isn't that what its called in the UK?

They've always told the unemployed here to go get forms stamped etc in the companies you looked for work in. I remember that from my reception days in Coolock. These 'job-seekers' are honest enough just to say 'here look missus, will ye just stamp dat for me, just to say I'm luukin for wurk and all' :D

The Irish are light years behind, they can call it what they like but they will not be up to par with the British any time soon.
Scare tactics I tell ya
