Bleedin' Battle Recorder never works

    <rant>

    I got this game Friday last and have been playing it a fair bit. Enjoying it so far, but I don't like the lack of a spectator mode or self-recorded demos (both two of my favourite things about CoD). How are newbies like me supposed to learn from the pros?

    This battle recorder gizmo is supposed to make things easy but it never bleedin' works. I've about 9 urls in Community bookmarks page but the all say "Failed looking up hostname". I don't think it's my fault because I had a look at these bookmarks for myself in the 'C:\Documents and Settings\...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\DemoBookmarks.con' file and, well look at this:
    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "Multiplay.co.uk :: Bagged and Tagged" "strike_at_karkand" "http://www.baggedandtagged.co.uk/demos/auto_2005_12_26_20_30_01.bf2demo" "2005-12-26 20:40:36"
    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "Multiplay.co.uk :: Bagged and Tagged" "gulf_of_oman" "http://www.baggedandtagged.co.uk/demos/auto_2005_12_26_20_41_20.bf2demo" "2005-12-26 20:59:20"
    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "Multiplay.co.uk :: Bagged and Tagged" "wake_island_2007" "http://www.baggedandtagged.co.uk/demos/auto_2005_12_26_20_59_59.bf2demo" "2005-12-26 21:20:33"
    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "Multiplay.co.uk :: Bagged and Tagged" "sharqi_peninsula" "http://www.baggedandtagged.co.uk/demos/auto_2005_12_26_21_21_12.bf2demo" "2005-12-26 21:49:09"
    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "FMJS Full Metal JockStrap Wake + Urban" "strike_at_karkand" "http://auto_2005_12_29_21_31_34.bf2demo" "2005-12-29 21:55:21"

    LocalProfile.addDemoBookmark "=EURO= Battlefield 2 www.the-euro-clan.com" "daqing_oilfields" "http://auto_2005_12_30_00_08_10.bf2demo" "2005-12-30 00:50:42"

    http://auto_2005_12_30_00_49_38.bf2demo isn't a web address. No wonder...
    The bagged and tagged site exists but I can't find my 4-day-old demos. I dunno. I left a message on the other guys' forums. Hopefully they'll fix it (coz I made a lovely looping tank shot over a hill crest to kill an APC :))

    Yeah, it looks like that Battle Recorder isn't set up properly on their server. If you're *really* interested I caould pass along a list of servers where it's working 100%.

    That would be kinda sweet, any other info on this battle recorder thing? Like does it slow the server down your recording from? :D

    Well I've been told that yes, it does use up resources on the server. Some people set it up so that the game server is the same one where the demos are stored. If everyone tried to download the demo at the same time after a game then I can see bad things happening :)

    This is a useful guide to using the recorder :

    This place has BR enabled 24/7 so you can test it to make sure that you can download and play the demos before you go making 'proper' ones.

    260 Pimp Shack =RANKED= BattleRecorder!

    And finally try grabbing BattleLauncher, a 3rd party tool that makes it a lot easier to download and record demos (or so I'm told).
