    Me and the bf are thinking of heading away to Alton Towers for the weekend in Feb. I haven't a clue where to start.... any advice/help wud be much appreciated! Where's the best place to fly into/stay etc. It'll be our first time away together and we're on a pretty tight budget!

    Two options on flights either Manchester or Birmingham;

    There is also the option of the Stena Line HSS/Rail deal which includes park discounts.

    Given that you have the hassle of changing from air to rail anyway wouldn't make that much of a difference. Dun Laoghaire to Alton by boat/rail is roughly 5 1/2 hours including check in and transfer time. By air you are probably looking at 2 hours check in; an hour to clear the airport and 1-1 1/2 hours by rail to Alton so it is only an hour faster.
