Second Hand Sky Digibox

My brother is giving me a Sky FTV card, all well and good, apart from the fact I have nothing to put it in!!!

Normally I would not bother with it, but it would be nice to get ch 4, ch 5, film 4 and also sky 3.

Am I best to go along the route of finding a second hand sky digibox, or to use a dragon cam? Am I allowed mention that here? If not, let me know and I will edit the message.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    MJ

Gosh you do learn something new every day [edit]

try the for sale gerneral / wanted forums - €50 or so probably less than a CAM and you get the EPG too

With regards to the dragon cam, I have been reading that if you have a Sky Card, it can be used instead of a sky digibox.

That, in my book is not piracy or illegal, you are legally using the card you purchased, just not in a sky box.........

Yes the dragon cam can allow you to view sky channels using an active(paid for) sky card but I did read that it could not accept updates so not sure if it will work for you. A cheap digibox is probably a better option .

Yes, I agree with Tony. Plus, a proper Sky digibox will mean interactive services like BBCi, Skytext and Sky Active will work. Those services won't work on standard receivers.

A CAM is expensive. There is no CAM that can be g'teed to work tomorrow with Sky card.

In most cases the Sky card has to be periodically in a Sky box. So really a Dragon CAM is only if you already have a Sky box and want to use an Expensive Direct From Satellite PVR with Pay channels.

No CAM is needed for ITV/ BBC etc and other free channels.
