"Fast" Playing...

i got berated for the way i played this but i thought it was kinda cool...

live stt 5 players left, 3 get paid - the villain and i are chip leaders and have double everyone else's chips...
the villain is pretty tight but solid (def not weak) and has been watching me. i on the other hand have been playing the most aggressively on the table. i've taken down a lot of pots uncontested on the flop with half pot bets, usually after i raised pre flop...
also the first guy to get knocked out fell foul to me slow playing a flopped straight...

anyho, i have 6000 in the cut off, villain on the bb has 7000. blinds are 75/150 and i raise to 400 with 75s. folded to the bb who calls

flop comes 777, bb checks quickly, and i bet 500
    bb raises to 1500
    i called

    4th street: K, bb checked. i bet 1000...

i can go into my thinking on what i was doing on every round so far but i would appreciate some feedback first...

    should i have slow played?

There's no "right" way to play this, only preference. I personally only slow play in unusual circumstances, but if villain is checkraising you, then i think you should come over the top. You have the deck crippled, but he's still saying he wants to put money in the pot, so lets go.

I wouldn't worry too much about people berating you, because mostly its coming from bad players. I've noticed more and more that the more unconventional the play i make, the more abuse i come under from people. It doesn't matter to me though, because generally they don't even make the money.

No problem there. BB said he had the 7, you didn't believe him.

I play the hand almost the same way but I probably check behind on the turn

Looks like BB has a pair and is wondering how big your pair is. :v:

you played the flop well, but he probably wasn't expecting you to call his raise. I'd probably check the turn giving him another chance to pair up on the river..

I actually like the way you played this but would have checked the turn too to hopefully get all his chips in on the river.

normally i would too, but 2 reasons:
    1. i felt he had something like two high cards, possibly KQ and I felt another check raise coming
    2. i was afraid my call on the flop might have got his alarm bells ringing (he couldn't rule out the possibility of me holding a 7 as i had been quite aggressive pre flop). i think i was trying to represent one final attempt at the pot with a passive bet of 1000 (pot nearly 4k at this stage and he was still getting good odds, he would surely figure i didn't have a K)
