6800GS Vs 6800GT

Excuse my ignorance but is there any real difference between these two cards (Nvidea 6800GS / 6800GT)? I've been comparing them on Komplett and they seem pretty close to me on spec and price. Can anybody enlighten me before I hand over my hard earned money, Thanks in advance.

they are basically the same at stock although the gt is slightly faster (pci-express).
if you are getting an agp card get the gt though.

the difference is that gt has more pipelines but is clocked slower, whereas the gs has 12 pipes as apposed to the gt (16) but is clocked faster.

if you are getting pci express get the gs as it is cheaper and oc, if you don't want to oc then get the xfx extreme edition which is about 6800 ultra levels.

GS has less pipelines (12 vs 16) but higher clocked core speed than the 6800GT.

Going by benchmarks the GS is marginally slower than the GT by a few frames.

However be careful if you are buying a GS in AGP. The specs for the AGP card are lower than the PC express cards in some case.

Thanks for the clarification lads. I think I'll go for the GS card as its soposed to be easy enough to overclock and its a pci card I'll be buying.

it is a pci-E slot your mobo has right,because no modern gpus will work with plain old pci which you said you had above,hopefully it was just a typo.
