PPP Grand Slam - Grand Finals Tonight

    Hi all,

The qualifiers for the Irish, English and Northern Ireland teams are on PPP at 10pm tonight. Irish qualifier has decent numbers but the English and NI tourneys have some serious value if anyone on here has the necessary passport.

At the moment, the English qualifier has only 2 entrants  and the NI has 4

These will go ahead if we get 9 in each so some serious value for a €5k ticket if you want to get yer name down ;)

All GFs are $99 rebuy tourneys.

Best of luck to everyone going for the last spot in the Irish team!

    Karlh.

hey CoD, how's that poker table treatin' ya!? :v:

if we don't get 9 we will find some way of filling the spot involving the players who have qualified through feeders etc.

i'll post up when we make a decision. it is very possible that the GFs will just fill since a lot of people wouldn't bother playing feeders for a $99 rebuy.

it may just be the 16 hours of heavy drinking yesterday but i don't understand a word of this :(

if you're wondering if there are any more feeders to the irish GF, then afraid not. it's a $99 rebuy or nuffin.

    wp cod, ul nicky
Poker story: starting to hold my own now only losing approx $50 per week hopefully go into profit soon

This was in john haugh's profile
i hope its just there to attract the fish!

Blinds got big and john haugh seemed to hit a few flops at crucial times. he's a check raising addict!!

    Well done Cod.

I want to vomit. Made the final table with a huge chip lead. Got no acrion with aces twice. Then got ****ed over by possibly one of the weakest players I've ever seen and he ended up winning the ****ing thing. He keeps limp folding, shortstacked in the SB when I'm in the BB then suddenly decides to put half his chips in preflop with QT against my AK and hits his wonderful TEN high flop. Then commits ALL his chips when not shortstacked with 22 and wins a race. Useless bastard. I played really poorly short handed and my continuation bets just kept getting snapped off. Totally pissed off with poker right now.

Taptite from Cork has won it... UL Nicky and Nial....

What do we know about the winner apart from calling with A2?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 320 ✭✭CoD

Yeh i p****d half my stack away to conor tate when i had a gutshot and a flush draw that missed. It made almost all level. I got it back when he was the SB, and me BB

he raised between x3 and x4 , i called with AJ

flop was 2 low cards and a J, rainbow

he done a continuaation bet of bout half the pot, and I x2 raised praying he had KJ. Indeed he pushed with KJ and I kickered him out,

That left me with 60k vs two 18k stacks :)
Then 82kvs 14k :) just sooo high on adrenaline and happiness lol.

Thanks for all the positive msgs :D

ul nicky, i watched your table from last 5 or 6 and didnt think much of the performace by them, john haugh done well proctecting his blinds, but picked up hands at good moments and tappite just got lucky, you deserved to take it

think you've been a bit harsh on yourself nicky... nothing you can do when 5XBB raises get called by QT, 9T etc!! if one of those 60-40 shots went your way you'd have taken it down, I'm sure of it

Well I really only played so I could bust "TheHangMan". He raises in EP I reraise with JJ and he calls for half his chips preflop. Flop 8 Q J. He pushes I call. He has the worst played AK ever. I win.

I wouldn't be questioniong the play from the player who sucked out on you. I'd be more inclined to question why you limped with A-3o? :)

Damn it I knew I was doing something wrong but I might play AK like that. I'm going to cover myself by saying you didn't mention the stack sizes.

I did say he called off half his chips preflop. Postflop there are exactly 0 hands that I would have reraised him with that he beats.

that was some running, 3rd in the 12k, good to be back... nice hit on the river to knock me out, again ul nicky,

He only needs to be 25% against your range to call. If your range was as tight as JJ+ and AK he is 30%+ so he has to call. If you might have AQ it gets better for him. If you might fold AK or TT to his all in it gets better and better and better for him.

OK he could have folded preflop or stuck it all in. It would take a very solid player or nice deep stacks for me to consider folding, and even if you were playing solid I might not notice. So normally I like to stick it in here, but since you're not folding preflop getting 3-1, I might do this instead for a change.

Am I overlooking something? Go on someone tell me yes if it was a cash game and you could rebuy this would be fine, but you can't put your TOURNAMENT LIFE on the line with NO PAIR in the GRAND SLAM FINAL. Ul anyway.

Actualy that's an interesting point, perhaps I've underestimated him. The fact that I am not going to fold preflop anyway means he can pull this move. The problem with that is if he does I can rule out KK/AA and probably QQ immediately.

I had an unimpressive start and finish to the NI tournie. What a bunch of loonies they are!! :)

Sean Murphy was put out when his reraise all in with two black aces was called by two red 2's. Four diamonds on the board and it was bye bye...

I more or less went out when I 3xBB raised with AK and called an all in from a maniac who was all in every second hand. He had 55 and I didn't improve.

I played absolutely mental at the start but quickly realised it was an action kinda table and then played uber tight only to have to fold to the all-in-monkey action!

    DeV.
