About 24 gig. Have no memory stick here. Is it possible to connect them up via usb or some crazy device?

Yeh you can get a USB transfer cable or just network the two machines and drag n drop

Unless both PCs have USB 2.0, you'd be better off just networking them with a crossover cable (100mps)

If you have a firewire port of both you can also network them using a firewire cable at 400mps..

it'd really help if you listed the machine models/spec. at a bare min.

Im going to have to transfare data from a windows 2000 computer to a XP laptop. Can you still use a crossover cable in that situation??

    yeah

but if i were ye, i'd buy a "usb2 to ide" cable of ebay, for about €10

then you can plug any ide hard drive into the usb ports, and store loads of stuff on it by just dragging and dropping, so no need to mess about with network settings
