Anyone know what type of attic aerail I should purchase?

I live in Naas, I have no real idea what way I should point the think when I get it either.

Also, can I just put a standard splitter on to it to feed two TV's?

    Thanks,
    MJ

Attic aerials are usually the same type as outdoor aerials, just instead placed in an attic instead of on the roof or on a wall.

You might be able to get away with a wideband UHF aerial pointed at Three Rock mountain in S.Dublin, which I believe would be due east of Naas. If this doesn't work out, you're looking at a combined VHF & UHF setup from either Kippure or Mt.Leinster.

If the signal is strong enough, then you can use a passive splitter to feed two TVs if you wanted to. Just make sure its a metal splitter rather than a plastic one. If the signal strength is "barely there" on just one TV, then an amplified splitter would be needed.

    Psygnosis,
you will be able to get one in a shop called Vision Radio in Balbriggan which is up beside X-travision around the corner from the courthouse,or you will get one in Wescos in the donore rd.industrial estate in Drogheda. You would get it cheaper in Drogheda. The aerial you are looking for is a grid, you will also need a B-super masthead amp and a 12v power unit.

for the 12v power AMP, I have no power in the attic I think, can I plug this part in down stairs.

Yes. plugs in between TV and downlead cable.

The masthead amp can be inside attic. Wants to be at least 6' / 2m away from aerial.

Depending on surrounding buildings etc, you may find reception quality varies widely in different places in the the attic. You may also find UHF reception might be improved by tilting the aerial slightly upwards (as if the transmitter was a bit above the horizon!) - due to refraction as the signals pass through the slates.
So try and have a portable TV with you in the attic connected to the aerial to monitor the quality while experimenting.
