    AKs v Q5o
    JJ v KJo

    I'm not too hopeful :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭Iago

out in 307th pushed with Qts on a flop of Q 7 5, with 2 players left to act, called by KQo

bit of an all-in fest to be honest, blinds are already at 200-400 with 300 players left, I only had 3.6k left so no real options.

    Again, sorry about that!

Finished 10th,(out of 999!) for 150. The blinds got to be brutal. Also, there was another mass disconnection on the bubble!

congrats amaru and can i ask, did you bluff at all during the play

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭Amaru

Did i bluff at all? How do YOU amass chips in a tournament?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

hehe you know what i mean, but like would you bluff less in a freerole then you would in normal tourneys.

For example it seems whenever i bluff in freerolls im called regardless of what kinda hand the villain has

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭Amaru

This wasn't your common or garden freeroll, at least not at most of the tables i played. My first table played very tight, so i robbed a lot of blinds. Other tables seemed to be playing more of a freeroll style, as evidenced by my first post about people being knocked out. When i got a couple of chips together, i started bluffing a lot, as i always do, except i don't really consider it bluffing, more playing position and using continuation bets. They're still effective if people take the tournament seriously. After a while though, it turned into "get an ace and race", so thats the wrong time to be bluffing. I just sat tight and waited for good cards, and they came when i needed them.

i think u got too keen on robbing blinds.you hand a monsterstack and could have cruised to final table and won it from there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭Amaru

I disagree. If you don't rob blinds, you can't make the final table, especially with how quickly they rise. When i was chip lead, I was playing very tight, and then i went all in with AQ suited in late position, hoping to pick up the blinds from the short stacks, but if they call, i still have a good hand to play with. For whatever reason, the guy with the healthy stack on the button decided to call for everything with KJ off, which i then lost to. That was the pivotal hand, but i got all my money in as favourite. After that, i got blinded off and had to make a move. I'd rather make a shot at winning than get blinded away, and stealing the blinds just once when they're that high can make a huge difference to your chances of winning.

congratulations on 10th, i wouldn't disagree with the A Q all in but watching it looked like a bluff, thats probably why your man call. after that though you made a move with A 8 when you still had a very healthy stack. my point is that at that stage of the tournie when the blinds are high and you are pretty much chip lead, people try and avoid you. So you get free rounds and can pick up other peoles blinds sometimes from position. it also means that you can surrender your blind when raised.

This my experience, also there tend to be a lot of mistakes as people go over the top trying to rob blinds if you catch these people out you go on to win.

    well done again.

Look at the situation. Yes, i am chip lead at the table, but i have less than 4BB. It's been folded around to me in the CO. When these 2 factors come together, this is almost an autopush. That i have a suited ace, decent kicker makes it even better. Winning here would give me 60000 more, which puts me in very good position to sit back and wait for people to get knocked out. That i got called by AK suited is just unfortunate, but i'd make the same play again given half the chance.

Also, i just looked at the hand histories again, and the guy who called me all in with KJ ended up finishing 2nd:mad:

I didnt hear about this until it was too late. I would have loved to play. What gets under my skin is that people pre reg and dont play. PPP Should have announched this well in advance but not open the registration until a couple of hours ahead of the start time.

I don't even think the chip leader for the whole tournament had 10BB at that point! Something that really confused/annoyed me is that people were maxing out there decision time on the bubble, in the hope that somebody on another table would bite the bullet and get knocked out. As a result, each blind level only lasted about 3 hands, meaning the blinds got ridiculous compared to the chips in play. I guess most people thought making the money was more important than having a stack capable of winning.
