I am arranging a 2mb down/up broadband connection with fixed IPand planning on setting up a Linksys WRT54G with this.

I have seen a few voip wi-fi phones on the market and all seem to be decent enough.

Will i be able to receive calls on 4 VoIP numbers through this router? Or otherwise how would i be able to achieve this? (Wired phones?)

Yes, you can setup four numbers and use them through the router.

If this is Irish Broadband, you may want to do some testing with a softphone before you go and spend €1k+ on wifi VoIP phones. Many Irish Broadband connections wouldn't be reliable enough to support voice.

If you're planning to use this connection for things other than voice, you'll need to consider QoS as well. Many VoIP routers have two ports with QoS so VoIP traffic is prioritised, but I don't think there are that many that do four ports. You would then use normal cordless phones instead of the much more expensive Wifi VoIP phones.

Is there an issue with then recieving calls and NAT?

Do i need a specific type of router or use port forwarding?

How then can i port forward to 4 seperate divices?

In relation to the use of cordless phones (and forgive me for my noob ness)
the base of the phone would jack into some kind of adapter that jacks into the router and then hey presto use the rest of the phone anywhere in the house ?

Well basically these would be voip phones that could be used in my wireless network not standard cordless phones with an adapater as they are not analogue.

Its just the same as having a voip wired phone plugged directly into the router.
