The Electric Fix #9 takes place in Whelan’s of Wexford St., on Tuesday January 17th 2006. Performing at this event will be BETAMAX FORMAT, supported by very special guests SOVIET FILTER and BAND ON AN ISLAND.

This year, the Betamax Format displayed mesmerizing performances at the PopKomm Festival in Berlin in September alongside The Kills and Ladytron and are fresh from supporting the Wedding Present on part of their UK and Irish tour in November.

The event takes place in Whelan’s of Wexford St., a venue celebrated as one of the best on the Irish live circuit. Welcome to the world of 80s video nasty soundtracks as unearthed and reanimated by the Dublin underground’s furious antidote to limp, sequenced, faux-indie frippery. Caustic and corrosive, vibrant and vehement; Betamax Format know the drill. Their music blends sinister electronica with a buzz saw rock warble, in a way that leaves one breathless.

Soviet Filter make music like hung over angels in a small hole in the ground, they are bitter and drunk, n’er do wells, arrogant, who play live with a band of chiefs.
Music for the people, Band on an Island are something you want to get in to, right now.

    Merry Christmas
    - Leigh
