As far as I know, you'd be better off to use a chemical stripper to remove old paint. You need to be careful that you remove all traces of it from the nooks and crannies before painting though. Sandblasting will leave you with a lot of grit or sandblasting medium all over the place and if you're not careful, you'll leave a lot of small surface imperfections on the metal. If you still want to sandblast, make sure that you choose the sandblasting medium carefully so that you can minimise this damage. I've an idea that there is a tiny plastic 'grit' that will remove paint without doing too much damage but you still need to be careful with your technique.

I can't recommend a painter as its years since I got a respray done on a classic, but there is a post further down the forum from Manta Mad with a contact number where you can get a quote (Carlow based). I think that one of the Stag posters mentioned a painter in Dublin in passing - you might need to read through the posts from the last two months to find it.

Even a car that looks relatively good can surprise you with what's lurking under the paint so be prepared to find some bodges that you'll have to put right before you think about paint. Hopefully you won't find too much wrong.
