I think this is a bargain anyway, im gonna buy it meself. I was looking at others and this is the cheapest around with all them features. Im not sure if its a great make though. Perhaps some fellow boards folk can give an opinion on this.

More Mega Pixels = bigger picture.
Better CCD and lense = better picture.

Make and model is very important when dealing with digital cameras...

Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Konica Minolta, Olympus, and perhaps Sony would be considered good camera makers (i.e. they have good lenses and processing chips)

It is probably a pretty OK camera, Aldi in fairness tend to sell reasonably good quality stuff.

It looks a bit big though, if you are planning on going out to the canaries (and enjoy haggling and know your stuff) you will get a nice known brand with equal or better specifications for similar money.

    Argos had a 4MB with optical zoom for €119 560/4054 page 901

then again it did not have the 256MB / Batteries / Charger.

I had a cheap digital 3mp before, and the photos were woeful out of it. Have a 2mp Nikon now and the quality is excellent.

one of the most important things on a camera is the lense, branded cameras like sony cannon etc are dearer because they use better lenses.

i would take a 3 mega pixel camera with a good lense over a 5 mega pixel camera with a bad lense anyday.

3 mega pixel camera with good lense = good picture all be it a smaller picture
5 mega pixel with bad lense=bad picture even though its a bigger picture

    just my 2 cents

It's all important: processor, lenses, and CCD... one doesn't work without the others...

yes, got one of these from argos,..it's a Vivitar brand, many years of OEM pro flash/lens manufacturing under their belt,..the one in aldi is exactly the same
in every way except they quote 5mp !!.
You don't get an SD card in the Argos deal but a 256mb would cost you the extra 20euro anyway, swings & roundabouts,..:D
