I'll be upgrading soon but anyone who ever had ISDN ever notice poor connectivity on slow PCs? Seems if the cpu load ever goes high (Mods, background game) the net goes pathetically slow. My usual solution is to reboot and do nothing but surf. Annoying.

Thats an issue with failing hardware more then likely. I used to have a 450mhz pc for browsing the web while I was fixing my main pc, never had any issues with net speed, even if the pc got a tad choked up when being used heavily.

I mean there are alot of people who still use 800mhz pcs for the net, and even online gaming.

True, the fact I still have a five year P3-800 amazes me. I think it 's due to the fact I my work keeps me away from it weekdays and I only get to use it weekends or holidays. It may be time for an upgrade anyway.

Yep, Line quality has a lot to do with it - so much so that I hardly bother fighting anymore to fix it. Calling Eircom or dealing with countryside failing points have long sinced drained me. Getting on this morning was an adventure (reboots, powering down the ISDN box, disabling USB Terminal Adapter etc etc) leaving me mightly pissed off.
However I do notice if I leave Microsoft's Antispyware running it tend to degrade net speed (intermittant nothing with 2K-5K/s bursts in between as opposed to a solid 8K/s on an amazing days). Shutting it down helps.
