Seemingly to compinsate for them being made outside the EU, if they where made in the EU we'd have more jobs n they'd get tax from our jobs... What they really mean is HD tv is on its way n people r gonna be upgrading in a big way espec as LCDs r gonna take over from plasmas big time... Easy money.. I'll be ordering my new monitor as soon as the sales start, maybe i'll get two

pure greed tbh.gona add at least €150 - €200 to the price so i guess any drop in price is gona be eaten up by the tax

What about plasma? OLED? And will this affect 19" iMac's/HTPC's?

Bastids, combining this with the Irish 'Backwards Tax' (i.e. where retailers all charge at least 30% extra for high tech goods because they assume we're all thick and will pay anything) we're going to be seriously ripped off (i.e. even more than usuall).

. LCD DVI computer screens larger than 19 inch - monitors which often also can be used to watch television - are likely to be taxed. This spells trouble in particular for Media Center rigs, which often require a large monitor..[/URL]

Im sure a loophole for ones that dont have integrated tv tuners will be found

Anyone know the exact date this is being brought in?
I reckon there'll be a boom in LCD's before this is brought in
