Talk fretless to me, baby.....

I've been playing bass for a while now, and I'd really like to try out fretless basses. My options are either a) take a chisel to my Fender bullet bass and potentially destroy an instrument they don't even make anymore, or b) break down and buy one.

A isn't an option (I'm pretty sure chiselling a fender USA is sacrilege, anyway, and should be punishable by death) so I'm looking at B. Can anyone recommend a good fretless instrument at a reasonable price? I've been looking at Stagg fusion basses, which seem to be getting good reviews. But if anyone wants to give me a few pointers, I'd be greatful.

The Fame basses mentioned in previous threads seem to have a growing reputation, and they have fretless models. If you don't mind breaking the bank there's the Gary Willis signature fretless from Ibanez, but I'd imagine that would set you back a few euro.

I've gotten myself a Dean Rhapsody Fretless second hand for peanuts, so if you can find one on ebay or the like, I give it a thumbs up. Excellent bass.

Go to Ishibashi, seek out the 62 RI fretless Jazz. No more needs to be said.
