DS battery life and dead pixels

I've managed to get my hands on a brand new gorgeous pink DS. However as much as I adore the little thing I'm really annoyed because the battery lasted for only 5 hours and also I have one dead white pixel. What is the average battery life of the DS for you guys? I was reading up on the Nintendo site and they said if the dead pixels were really annoying you you could return the console to them to be fixed under the 1 year warranty. Anyone else done this? I would just exchange it at the shop but I know that there is no chance there'll be any more pink ones for a while so going to have to go the awkward route. If anyone has had the same problems lemme know! Cheers

The average battery life of the DS is about 10-12 hours. When you get it, it's only got about a 40% charge so that would explain you only getting 5 hours from it today. Give it a full charge (3-4 hours) and you'll really notice the difference.
And to make sure you get a pink one as a replacement, you're definitely best off going through Nintendo to get it replaced. Also, just so you know, you're actually covered for 2 years under warranty from Nintendo.

I played it the day I got it until the battery ran out then left it to charge when I went to bed. I didn't play it again until the morning when I played for like an hour and a half in bed and 2 hours downstairs... hmm... even less than I first thought. Also in bed I was playing with it plugged in... Eeek! I'm so annoyed. I work in the shop that I bought it from so just wondering if we're going to get a couple returned next week after all the Xmas pressies have been opened. Thanks for letting me know it was 2 years. Musta been the US one that had 1 year.
