Hi, on tuesday, im gonna buy WoW. I have been waiting to play this game for ages and on tuesday ill have enough money to buy it.( Im a poor student type)
I was thinking of making a NE hunter because I think that class will help me get used to the game and won't be getting killed all the time. I am going to play on a pvp realm, but im not sure which one to go for.
Have you guys got any suggestions as to which one I should go for?
I checked out the realm status on the WoW site and I was wondering, about the populations... When it says Medium does that mean that I'll be able to find a group easily enough? Also is there any way to see if the population is made up of Lvl 60's or of new characters? cos I don't want to be running around trying to lvl and quest at a low lvl all by myself as thats just boring.
Your help would be appreciated. :D
    Merry christmas.

most servers at this stage have a pretty mature population (read: everyone is lvl 60). I think your probably better rolling on a full server if you want a steady stream of alts to keep you company. Or else go for one of the newer servers like bronzebeard, lightnings blade or haumorsuch and level up madly and be on of the first generation of 60's

Go to Zenedar. You'll pick up bits of Swedish and Russian to boot.

Wherever you pick. For the horde!

Alliance = Noble heros, brilliant players and good looks.
Horde = Emo kids with long hair.

Whatever you pick, come to our brilliant Bladefist server. Queues FTW!

i heard thers no alliance on emeriss. masiv bg queues for fa horde:eek:

The ratio Alliance-Horde atm is roughly 30%-70%. While this does mean that Horde queue for a long time to enter BGs, Alliance rarely queue longer then 10 minutes and generally for <3 minutes. This is only for the higher level ranges however - 50+ I suppose. There is an up and coming crowd of new Alliance chars from what I see however, alot of lvl 10-35 chars running around the various lower areas (visiting them alot atm farming linen, silk and leathers) so I would anticipate that there will be 30-40 and 40-50 BG's in the near future as their guilds explain the benefits of high rep/honour to them.

On the subject of guilds..... I come from a MUD background and there guilds/clans/organisations are very much orientated towards the idea of leveling their lower members and assisting them with quests/equipment. From what I've seen of WoW this doesn't seem to be the main focus of the guilds, most seeming to specialise in end game content? Am I correct in thinking this?

yeh. The focus of guilds is far more towards endgame raids in WoW, mainly because really thats all there is to do once you hit 60.

They should still be able to help twink you though :)

Yeah - I think that a bunch of us Irish on Emeriss (all three of us :P ) intend to change that. Currently have a single 60 (holy/prot spec pala) and a host of level 40 chars between us. We've been discussing the idea of creating a 30-60 focused guild with some end game raiding but that the main thrust would be to raise people from 30 --> 60 and teach them the basics of BG's, good group behaviour etc, then let them get poached after that by a more high instance orientated guild.

The reason? Personally I've only been on pug high instance raids and frankly there are always pr*cks involved who, without exception, have made my raiding experiences un-fun. I kinda came to the conclusion that I would rather not get a full LF set for my paladin and avoid the annoyance of raiding altogether. That does leave my highbie at rather a loose end so I thought I would try being helpful to others instead of gaining for myself. I can't really speak for the other two - I'm sure that they have their own reasons for backing this plot of ours but I'm unsure what they would be :D

since you're on emeriss do a /who 1-60 and check do you even have enough for one guild.
record low was 8 at 4:30pm....

Generally there are 60-100 alliance logged on at a time in my experience on Emeriss. The majority of the players on that server seem to be Western European, older, working people though which would explain why there would be very few on during work hours :D This will change soon though as it seems a fairly large number of people who passed on the Kor'ghall/Bladefist migration in December have reconsidered their decision in light of the repeat migration later this month. Which is nice cos that way myself (60 holy pala) and two level 40 friends won't be the only ones protecting the prince in SW from 3 epic'd level 60 hordies :P (and that would be a roundabout thank you to Reynard and Freaksout, the two level 40 chars who assisted).
