hey, i havent been to dubai myself but i have friends and family who were there...they all enjoyed themselves, but outside of the tourist areas its a whole different world, remember its a muslim(?) country so all night partying and general debauchery that you'd be used to here is really frowned upon...
Of course dubai these days is trying to promote itself as a great tourist destination where anything acceptable in the west is acceptable there but i dont think its that simple...
in short i think it could be interesting, but it really depends on what your looking for, and as for getting a job i dont know much about this but i'd expect they'd be few and far between for foreigners with no discernable skills...

unless you are highly skilled in something that there is a really short supply of in the labour force over there expect to get paid a very low salary. although food and accomodation (outside of tourist areas) should be very cheap - just don't expect to have much (if any) money to bring back home when you are finished if it is unskilled labour you are doing.
