Hey, I'm looking to get a picture restored (see attachment). Can anybody recommend to me any places that will do a good job on something like this? How long does it usually take? How much will it cost?

    Thanks,
    Wayfarer

    Hi ya.

I'll have a quick go at touching it up for you and will post it back to you when I'm done (no charge of course!)
BTW, are you planning to have it printed out by a professional lab?

    Legend! Nice one, thanks. :)

Yeah I was planning just to go into boots or something to have a copy of it printed off. My dad wanted it to show his father when he went home for new years.

    Hi again.

I've washed your old photo through Photoshop CS2. Hope your dad likes it :)
I have a high res version of your photo. PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you if you want to print it out.

This copy here might be good enough for you to print out. Forum has max upload of 470Kb... sorry

Cheers man, that's perfect. I'd say he'll be really happy with it. I might even be able to get it under the christmas tree for him now!

Thats pretty impressive. Great work. Is that very hard to do?

Not really. It just takes time. I only spent about 20 minutes working on this picture. I could spend 2-3 hrs on it though and really have it looking well.... but I ain't working for free ;)

You do need the right tools for the job i.e. Adobe Photoshop (I use the latest version CS2 which is really superb!), lots of RAM on your machine (if working with high resolution images) and time... time.... and more time!

Give it a try yourself. It's very satisfying when you successfully restore an old photo. People think you're a genius!

    Nice job.
Good to see there are still some people around that believe in doing favours (for free) for others.
    Happy Christmas.
