    See http://www.progdvb.com/

ProgDVB Version 4.62.6 is out. Fixes bugs in earlier 4.56

I have tried about 1/2 dozen apps and still find this best overall taking account:
    Diseqc
    Teletext
    Channel Favorites
    Stability

I use a very early Technotrend "Highend" or premium card badged as Hauppauge DVB-s PCI satellite. Later versions called the Nexus-s.

Skystar1 and Fujitsu/Siemens are basically same card also made by Technotrend. http://www.technotrend.de/ (English)

Have you tried RitzDVB , its probably the most popular for DVB-S/Nexus/SS1 users (free software), MyTheatre is better imho , but isnt free.

ProgDVB is ok..have issues with the fact it doesnt pick up many channel names (very annoying) and also the CI module is totally utterly useles..it will recognise your Dragon or whatever fine..but if you need to edit keys or anything you are screwed, this issue isnt there in MyTheatre.

For the software based cards, AltDVB is probably best/most popular.

ProgDVB is a great program to introduce you to PC satelllite viewing but when you start wanting to do more..it falls a little short imho.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

My Theater looks very pretty but is much worse IMO than the free Technotrend SW.

I had all kinds of Problems with Ritz. It does not work with my "Global" brand Diseqc switch properly.

Mine is HW based card, but I have used it in Soft mode for wierd resolutions and for HD. My PC is too slow for HD.
