First all, thank you all who came to the Santa Cause gig last night. We beat the poker night :)

Now, my issue. Up to 15 boardsies got refused because of the whole id thing and I'm pondering putting on an all ages show in TBMC. But I'm in two minds, because
    A) The ones I've been to generally have no people at it
    B) The ones I've attended (no offence meant here) have rubbish 15 year olds whinging on about life being unfair, and playing songs that use 3 power chords.

I can't do much about (A) but I can do something about (B). I know a lot of bands at this stage and could get a decent 3/4 band line up in. It would be on the heavier end of the spectrum as that's what I'm into and most of the babygoths in Temple Bar are too.

So my question dear boardsies, would I be wasting my time, or should we try and nuture music in teenagers (even if only 30 turn up)?

Well, tbh, I was at a gig last night (Chosen, Enthropy + 2 other bands) at Soul28, which was over 18's, and packed enough for the small venue. I'd say there was about 50 there.

Its not so much that there's 30 coming, but if you put that 30 in the TBMC, or in a smaller venue. 30 people in the TBMC is a small crowd, but in a small venue would be a good crowd.

    =-=

If it were all ages, those 15 may come, and perhaps a few others. Personally, I like to have a cider when listening to a band, and I'm sure others would like to have a beer. So theose who like a beer may not come if it were "all ages".

Saying that, the "all ages" Fear Factory concert in the Ambassador a few months ago was pretty packed, so it depends on the level of intrest. Maybe some bands from both ends of the spectrum (bands which appeal to the over 18's, and the under 18's) may draw in a large enough crowd.

I know a guy who puts on these type of gigs all the time, and he gets huge crowds regularly. It'd be a good idea definitely if you choose the right venue, and vary the music a bit.

I find it funny that you dont want 15 year olds complaining about their parents, and then we just had a gig in the Hub, where all the emofags and mini metallers etc went to do that, ie:Blast :)

Im all for an all ages gig, the more the merrier.Im underage, I got into the hub the other night and I thought about it sensibly, I didnt want to get faceless like a muppet, so I stuck to the easy stuff.Im sure anyone underage with any sense near a bar will do that at the next one, or even an all ages gig.

Im all for heavy stuff, what are we going for? I may be able to get some bands to play, but it depends on how near the next one will be.
If the next gig is in TBMC, I may be able to get a good load of people to come, but I will need notice.
