"Provost in SU President bid shock"
The Provost of Trinity College, Dublin, Dr John Hegary (34), has shocked the students of Irelands most exclusive university, UCD, by annoucing his bid to gain control of the Students Union. At an alumni dinner last night, held in the Masonic Temple located deep under the Arts Block toilet, the Provost made his intentions clear. "I can no longer stand by and watch my grand vision be riduculed by those filthy vermin in House 6" raged Dr. Hegarty (57), between mouthfuls of virgin, "How dare they criticise my plans for Irelands first one-stop abortion clinic and skin care centre here on campus".
One student said "As a Catholic and a Marxist I must stand against this anti-Christian Capitalist plan".
Dr Hegarty (6 months) is expected to win next years SU election to be held in April. His strategic partner, The Right Honourable The Lord Sir Anthony O'Reilly, OBE, RTE, BBC, has paid for the entire undergraduate population of the British Isles to holiday in Prenzronski, a secret CIA torture prison in Eastern Europe, at that time.
    One student said "bugger".

Mr O'Reilly is actually one of the Pro-Chancellors of the college. Could it be that this story comes from a reliable source?

Education officer in peeping tom incedent..

Shock and horror hit the trinity college Studenst union last night when it seem the education officer apparently broke into the su presidents office, located on the same floor of house 6, and proceeded to set up a spy-cam, so the education officer could watch " conferance's" between the SU President and his girlfriend.

one sf Comp science student, who hacked the stream said
" it was horriable, all that leather and wd40, i cant understand why people voted instead of hidding in lg12 and downloading warez...."

a js bess student said " this is better then the time i put my dick in my brothers mouth and took a picture".

College and the Students Union have declined a statement, but the Education officer is being disaplined by the welfare officer*

    *( lucky him!)

Mr Smith, we'll have none of these sort of lued comments, what actions our Education officer does or doesn't get up to is none of your/our business unless ye have proof....though tbh i don't wanna see it.

I think it could be time for an overall of the sabbatical election process. I'm thinking something more along the lines of the Rose of Tralee meets Miss Universe meets Gladiator (UK TV show with Ulrika whatshername, not the Epic Film with Russell Crowe).

There could be an evening wear round, forget about the swimsuit round as we already have the VdP Slave Auction/Stripping Event in the Buttery. Then each candidate could do their party piece, after telling Ray D'Arcy about how they want to work with children and how their dream would be world peace.

Then, after the first round of voting the two candidates with the most votes for each position fight it out in a series of physical challenges, stuff like first to climb the campanile, do the Chariots of Fire with one foot tied behind their backs, steal the Book of Kells in a 'mission impossible' (Tom Cruise film, not retro TV series) way, etc.

Also, camera crews could follow the candidates through each stage, and the footage could be repackaged into a number of different formats for maximum financial gain for the SU.

Actually, why limit the voting to members of TCDSU? If candidates from around the country were running the 'vote for our own parish' mentality could be harnessed via a tv show like 'you're a star' - they made a mint from all those people texting their premium rate phone lines.

Don't think Cathal's going for it. Well that's what I gathered from his conversation with Mannion in his office one day, until I was rudely ejected. (I mean there I was calmly eating my packet of Onion Rings when suddenly, they needed to discuss something*. I would have ran into EduMyth's office, if he hadn't left a few minutes beforehand.)

*Might be something election related, but I doubt it.

Actually, forget 'you're a star' - let's take the elections in an X Factor direction. Joe O'Gorman would make a fantastic Simon Cowell.

you know, i think i'll do a "follow a sabbat candidate during campaigning" documentary - that'd be boring but still :p

just go around and get peoples impressions - i'm pretty sure that it'd be largely "eh, i dont give a ****."

If I'm correct, TN used to do that a few years ago. May just have been presidents, I'm not sure. Sounds evil though :)

I'm actually tempted to do an SU video exposé - it'd be interesting to say the least.

For anyone thinking about going to any of the positions (i.e. President, Deputy President, Education, Welfare and/or Ents), and who might need some help with their manifestoes, I've photocopies of the last two years manifestoes ready for collection - though the year before I ran is limited to those who won, and Ed Reilly. Just drop up to l'education office (House 6 on the first floor, then on your left and at the end of the corridor), and I'll give them to you. They might give you an idea on how to design your own. Also, if you drop in I'll be treating it the same as casework (think of this as election casework) and will not be divulging who is thinking about running for what.

Just don't rob the ideas, please come up with something original!

    Dónal

Donal: i think Shane has most of the ones from the year before this if you want em.
