A surprise, from the unfortunate member of the family who was designated the duty of supplying me with gifts this Chrimbo.

Although the girlfriend got me great presents; Bloc Party's album, a book about Google, enough plecs to get me through another year, smelly Hugo Boss stuff so I won't complain about the price per millilitre anymore, and bracelets.

Don't know what I'm getting but if I get money I'll be buying myself the Jack Charlton: The Ireland Years DVD.

Very good. I'll have the book about Google in our post-Christmas gift-swapping...! Smelly Hugo Boss stuff is powerful tack, it has to be said. I'll be getting the girlfriend's (phew, nearly put the apostrophe after the "s"...) presents tonight, so I shall reserve judgement, even though there's odds of around 2/1 I could name the lot, due to my excellent reading-like-a-book skills. Other gifts arriving include a year's subscription to The Economist, some money (methinks/mehopes), and several surprises, which are usually really excellent or really dire.

Never! I have a prezzie for our internal Christmas-gift raffle already. Don't forget to have one for the new term.

It's okay, you can call me your girlfriend. And my aforementioned present is great!

    How'd you do?

That's great to hear! You can get it re-directed to the sixth row of the Ed Burke so I don't have to renew :).

What a strange question to ask! ...*coughs* 7... you know what they say small shoes - big brains (and hence wages :p )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

im size 7.5 on one foot and 7 on the other side...what's the average size for fellas? i think it's about 5/6 for girls...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,314 ✭✭✭Nietzschean

I thought my size 9 was small (although I am wide ;))

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,523 ✭✭✭ApeXaviour

Found out what my surprise was (well obviously). A banjo...

    Deadly :D

I'm size 9 in some shoes, 10 in others. Wide like John II

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭Andrew 83

Your foot is meant to be the same size as the distance from your elbow to your wrist (try it if you don't believe this, i did and it's true) so it must be unusual to have two feet that differ very much in size.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

Hmm... maybe the being Asian and all kinda results in small feet... and btw I tried the elbow thing... didn't work! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

well im not complaining about my feet as they're useful for the long jump but awful when trying to buy heels with pointy ends.

Didn't work for me, my foot is shorter than my elbow to wrist length.

A trampoline! And lots of money *drools*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭cuckoo

My foot is also shorter than the elbow thing. So, do i have freakishly long forearms or dwarf feet?

Screw Santa - i converted some of my present bootie (money from relatives) and some of the wages i'll be getting in a week and a half (ahh, plastic money) into an Iaudio X5L 30GB mp3 player. i think these feelings i have for my new piece of technology could be love...

I agree with your second point but strenuously disagree with your first.

So you would take someone who owns an instrument but doesn't know how to play it?

Or was that some form of extremely subtle humour I didn't quite grasp?

Yes. Once you get in the groove it doesn't matter how good you are.

It is interesting that in this modern world shoe sizing STILL hasn't been standardised in any sensible way. Size 11 (or 12, sometimes). Though clothes sizes in general seem to be horribly poorly standardised.

Wow, you get right down to the point, snorlax.
I'm size 9 in some shoes, 10 in others. Wide like John II
Thirded. Shoe sizes are stupid, they hardly ever work.

Respect! So good to see a girl that doesn't make straight for the iPoo..
