Question About Repeating a module.

If you have to repeat a module, and you choose to go the "test only" route, as in, not pay to attend classes and such, are you supposed to go in for those little "class tests" that some lecturers have? I'm repeating a module , but chose to just repeat the test. There are two class tests during the semester worth 5% each. When I checked my email, the first one had already gone ahead, I would have assumed I didn't have to go in anyway. So I missed them. An email was sent to the mailing list with peoples student numbers and their results from this test, and people who didn't show up for the test were just shown as a 0 on the results list. The thing is though, my student number wasn't listed on this sheet. Does this mean I was right in thinking that I didn't have to go in for a class test if I was only paying to repeat the main exam? Please tell me it does;) Also, if it makes any difference, I passed the class tests last year, will I be able to kick up a fuss about how I didn't think I had to do them and such if I happen to get 45 or something in this test but fail because of that missing 10%. Probably not. Anyway my main question is, should I have done these tests. Thanks.

That's really a question you should be directing to the appropriate lecturer. Some lecturers will require you to complete the continuous assessment/class tests in order to pass the module.

not too sure. but if you did miss a class test, it's no big deal. I slept in for one of mine but I had to go up to a Mr clancys office to repeat it in there at the start on January. Of course I had to ask could I sit it again.

Email the lecturer right now to clarify your situation, it'll only take 2mins out of your day and give you peace of mind.

Yep, fair enough. I guess I was just trying to avoid emailing the guy, if possible. Anyway, I've just sent him an email about it. Thanks

if it's like most courses, your continous assesment marks from last year will carry over from last year, that's what mine was anyway the year i repeated doing just the exam, and i know it was the same for other people on other courses.

Have you registered to re-sit this module? If your student number wasn't on the list and you're not receiving class emails and you have registered to sit this module, you need to get onto the lecturer pronto to see what your situation is with these class tests.

Nah, I do get the class emails and I am registered on moodle and such, I just wasn't on the list of results. I emailed him earlier but he didn't get back to me, so I guess it'll be tomorrow, or possibly later...

Im repeating three modules, two of which have continous assesment exams.

Marks from last years continous assesment werent carried over and I had to sit the continous assesment exams again this year...but Im registered to attend lectures but I doubt it would be different if you are just registering to sit exams

Just wondering, does anyone know if it is possible to repeat the continuous assessment element of a module on its own - ie. if you've already passed the written exam part or is it necessary to repeat both continuous assessment element and written exam?

Continous assesment usually doesnt make a huge impact on final result

Youd need to talk to your lecturer of your module. Some lecturers allow a resit is you fail a continous assesment and have a valid reason

I emailed the lecturer and he said that it doesn't matter that I didn't repeat the class tests, I didn't have to apparantly, and the main test will count for 100% of my marks.
