Why are they such crap sometimes?

I mean, take FEAR for example. Recommended Card: 9800Pro for 6600GT - neither of which come remotely close to running FEAR at full whack, especially the 9800Pro. Whats the deal with choosing these as recommended cards for running the game?? Someone who doesn't know anything about computers is going to be awfully disappointed when he gets the gamehome expecting his old 9800pro to blind him with amazing visuals.

Some games have spot on recommendations listing beasts of cards that'll run the game at full - others have absolute rubbish, like the above.

It doesn't really make a huge difference to people who know their cards, but people who know nothing about computers could end up choosing a crap graphics card based on the recommendations of the most graphic intensive games currently available.

I would have thought 9800Pro was min spec at least.

But I suppose if the developers/publishers state on the box that your gonna need an A64 + 1gig ram + Geforce 7800 to run their game, it might put alot of people off buying it :D
