Seagate buys Maxtor

    This will make Seagate comfotably the largest hard disk manufacturer in the world, and leaves Western Digital, Samsung and Toshiba as the only other remaining big manufacturers. It'll be interesting to see how this influences the price of storage as Maxtor have traditionally been one of the cheaper disk manufacturers, and Seagate more expensive.

    All I'm worried about is: will it make Seagate crapper, or Maxtor better? Seagate is very reliable, but not so for Maxtor (speaking from personal experience only).

    i'm fearing that it will make seagate less reliable. They'll probably try and cut production costs down so much.
