    Hello!

Where in Dublin can I buy Hong Kong dollars? My own bank (AIB) have told me that they don't sell (or buy) Hong Kong dollars anymore!

Anybody know of a bank (or any other place) that does?

try thomas cook on college green, they have unusual currencies... and the bank in the airport tends to stock most currencies (with the exception of controlled currencies)

AIB do Hong Hong dollars and so does the BOI Dublin Airport. You need to order them 10 days in advance usually. Bring plenty with you, the shopping is unreal even for a hardened shopaholic! great value tho, and they do all the european gadgets, hardware, software, and electroics. Enjoy!:D

Best not to change your money at the airport as the exchange rate is not as good. Go to the banks in the city centre, and see the rates difference between BOI and AIB. It may seems only a few euro differences here, but over there it could buy you lunch!

I tried to get them in Galway as well. No joy. BOI in the shopping centre are the only ones who carry the currency (and they are closed up unitl we go on Friday). I'll have to bite the bullet at the airport.

Why dont you wait till you get to Hong Kong and do it over there. Just change a small ammount of Euros to get you from the airport to the city, and then get the better rates in the city there are Xchanges all over the place with a decent competition that has a decent difference in the rates. See here for the bus and train prices http://www.toandfrom.org/airport/hongkong.html. The huge advantage of the train is when you are returning to the airport you check your bags in at the station before you get on it, saving you having to lug them around with you.

Thanks Gerire thats what I'm going to do. Only thing we will need cash for is the airport express and I'm sure you can buy and octopus card on the visa. We will also have our pass cards with us.

After our experience travelling do not use Pass/Atm cards. Lump money onto your credit card as the card company only charge you a flat fee, 2.50 I think, nut the cirrus/atm charge is a percentage of whatever you withdraw and usually works out a lot more than the 2.50, I had charges of 10+ before i copped on .

    Enjoy the trip
