    Alright all,

I've been a long time recomender of OcUK and normally have had good service with them. But this last one RMA has been a joke.

My x800XT died and I RMA'd it. AGP is dying and there's feck all AGP cards left. The closest card they can offer are
    6800GS(vivo) or a x800xl(non vivo).
Me wan't happy so I asked for a full refund. to which they replied that they can only offer 150(sterling) refund. No the card originally cost 290(sterling). Shocking.
They stated that the GFX market moves fast and depreciate quickly.

I'm in a pickle big time. I've got on to them with EU law etc but there not budging.

This is just a general WARNING to all. Don't deal with them.

can anyone advise what I should do.
    take the 150 refund,
    take a x800xl(non vivo)
fight for a full refund - this is normally what I'd do but I'm tired of it all and want shot of them.

I had a bit of hassle getting an RMA with them a little bit back....ended up having to shell out more as there was no longer a similarly priced card.

They sent me a borked card which i had to return at my own expense and then had to shell out even more money for an acceptable replacement.

6800 is an alright card...hoping to get one for meself

Those GS cards are meant to be pretty damned sweet by the way... Try to get an XFX branded one..

The overclocked XFX version is the only one Overclockers do

    how old is the x800xt?
i dont think ocuk are really screwing u over there! they are doing as much as any other would and 150sterling is about 220eur
the 6800 is a very nice card btw ;) not sure about GS but once its got 16pipes u are doing well

It was 10ish months old. still within the year warrenty.
The GS only has 12 pipes and 5 vertex shaders. A good bit of performance difference avg 10 fps @ 1280X1024.
    Sure we'll see what happens.

OcUK are a shower of w****rs. Nobody should deal with them. I've been waiting for them to send back some rma'ed ram for about 3 months now. Ridiculous attitude towards their customers.

Umm they are legally meant to offer him a Replacement or full refund. If he paid £290 and they offer £150, thats not a full refund. I cant even understand how they arrived at £150. Also, they get full (or large percentage) of the original value back from their Disti or the manufacturer, so its not like they are out of pocket.

In all my experience the manu will replace an rma'd card from a reseller with a card of current standard OR HIGHER so he should get the top of the range AGP card.
Thats the manufacturers way of working it, Id say get in touch with Ati.

very strange that this should be posted today when I posted this on a different thread:

I ordered a 3700+ from overclockers in november and it arrived DOA. They are still processing RMA (2 weeks after they got it) so im cancelling payment, to hell with them.
Ordered replacement of Komplett and with DHL it will be here Friday.
Inculding DHL its cheaper than with OC was originally (at the time of original order the Big K were out of stock)

DMA's from overclockers are well known to be dire. I used to use them a lot, wouldn't risk it now. If you hound them for a few weeks, months you'll eventually get it sorted. Pain in the Ar$e to deal with them though.

Just RMA back to the manu!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 698 ✭✭✭vishal

ati's card partners are very bad at rma. i emailed his tech about how long there warranty is and they never replied back. you should ask ocuk for the same card or a better one. if not keep emailing them, also ask the manu will they process the rma?

you should hold out for a replacement card or full refund.

As for the crap that they're giving you about it only being worth £150, ask them to find you an x800xt agp for that price. They are as rare as hens teeth and I'm pretty sure I saw the xt pe for sale on pixmania for over €500 a couple of weeks ago.

I've asked TUL(powercolor) the manu's to contact overclockers.co.uk to try and sort this out. Tul don't do direct RMA outside USA so it's a bit annoying.

But I'm gonna fight for this to the bitter end.

It was like that with a case i ordered for a friend. It arrivied, and one of the fans was DOA. Asked them in august, and they said they'd send one out quick. Few months later no sign, contacted them again, they said they put it through as a seperate order. Still no sign. Contacted again in december, had to be a bit snotty, bit i got it last week. Threy just lie to your face they do.

Hi all an update to the above saga

I got a x800XT PE as a replacement. After a lon and hard battle the customer won for once. But the whole process puts me off dealing with them again.
Their contact system is soooooo horrible.
