well duh, the force caused by the universal movement would create a strong breeze that would cool things down a tad bit and offset global warming for another generation.


My one question, let's just say this retard science was plausable, wouldn't they need people on one half of the planet to jump in order to create movement? If everyone jumps at the same time then all we do is push against each other.. the world would be more likely to crack than move.

I think it's kinda dangerous. Earth is in a perfect position to support life right now, moving it away will make it colder and possibly un-livable-in.
And if everyone on every side of the world is jumping, won't it just compress the Earth?
And I think some sort of machine would do a better job.

OK, it's clearly impossible but anyways. did they not think that if the globe is round and by applying force from it's totally surface area! it wont actually do anything as one persons force will be cancelled by a force on the exact opposite side. Ok, it's complete shít, but to the posters arguing that jumpers on one side of the world would cancel each other out, did you even read the web-page? It only lists time-zones on one half of the world, and gives a time when they should jump, implying that the other half should sit still.

If any momentum builds up around it, (they claim to have 370 million people registered to do it) it could become a problem. How much do they want to move it? What if they get 1.2 billion jumpers rather than the 600 million they wanted? All very messed up either way. The 'professor' interviewed is clearly some smelly student who can barely contain a giggle. the t-shirts could end up being a fun irony or a badge or guilibility.

Did you not read the link!? So many reasons why it won't work!

1)Gravity. As you fall towards the earth, the earth moves towards you. Net effect zero.
2)Not everyone is going to fall at the same time, seeing as everyone will jump from a different height.
3)Even IF 1 & 2 could be overcome, the net effect would only be that of 500 tons of TNT. Hardly going to do much.
