What does it mean when a dentist is listed as "practice limited to...." etc.

Obviously its restricting the scope of the practise. But I'd like to hear more about it.

    (Dunno apporiate forum)

Practice limited to : orthodontics - braces, prosthodontics- bridge and crown and implant, oral surgery - wisdom teeth, endodontics - root canals, periodontics - gum treatment, paedratriac dentistry - children , oral medicine - cancer and funny mouth spots, implant dentistry - not really a speciality, cosmetic dentistry - not a speciality at all.... means that the dentist does not do anything else but certain treatments or is specialised in certain areas. Usually specialists will have a masters or Phd in their topic. Other dentists may be limited to a area but may not be specialists but are very experianced at their field.
Ireland unlike most other countries has no specialist register except for oral surgery and orthodontics and as such their is some confusion as to who can call themselves a specialist....as a patient the best thing to do is to check the qualifications.
