    Just got BF2 and installed...also updated 280mb patch....but cant get online games online...( socket error not listening or some **** ) went to troubleshooter page of EA and opened all relevant ports as suggested...reinstalled game and patch...and still same error comes up..NEED HELP !!! fantastic game ( Demo )
    BTW i uninstalled demo aswell incase of conflict.
    My machine is P4 1gbRam 256mb graphics...so its not the comp ( New from DELL ) just in case u were wondering.
    Can Someone enlighten me as to the problem and/or Solution?

    Firewall blocking it? Have you peer guradian installed?

    No...have MS firewall and McAfee security...and have disabled them and tried...but same result

    what isp are you using, some of them block ports so you may have to check wuth them!

    Are you using a DSL router? Maybe you need to update the firmware. I had to do that with my netopia router when I got the game. I don't think you need to do any port forwarding configuration as the ports are usually open.

    Did that with the firmware for the netopia and turned off all security and firewall ( Risky I know ) and logged on and waited and waited and about 5 mins later it got a game up and running....Now to find out if I can play safely with security and firewall on....Well thats another days work...btw my IPS is eirCON !!and they were about as usefull as a not very usefull thing ( couldnt think of an analigy..Ur ) Thanks...Good Blogg btw Nicky...Im a online poker player myself ...up $300 from a $10 stake so far. Keep up the good work Boarders....
