Looking to order a book online to up my game a bit, sick of losing money to mates! I would consider myself somewhere between a beginner and intermediate. Playing for about 6 months on and off, dont go to casinos just house games and online. Anyone suggest some good books they've read??

What do you play online/with your mates, Is it cash games or STTs/MTTs? If its the latter then I'd recommend Dan Harringtons 2 books Harrington on Hold'Em 1 & 2 (clever names). About €25 each but will pay for themselves very quickly. Usually a copy or 2 to be had in Hodge&Figgis in Dawson St Dublin.
Might be cheaper on Amazon/Ebay etc but theyd be handy to get quickly to take advantage of the inevitable drunken fishfest online over the next 2 weeks.

When i was just starting off, and loosing money left right and centre on pokerroom.com i just started googling for poker articles. You will find lots of articles, some sh1t, some great but the main thing most of them will do is get you starting think about the game in an analytical way. In the end I find that you the way you will learn the most is by reading what someone has to say, and then just spending time thinking about it yourself and developing your own thoughts on the matter.

The only site i can remember is http://www.pokertips.org/strategy/strategy.php

But its not a bad start.

Edit: The very first thing thats got to be got right is starting hand selection.

Now im off to the micro nl games on tribeca......

Everything you need is here, have a read of that and then start posting. The best thing to develop your game is to discuss concepts and hands here and on similar forums....
