Just bought an apartment off the plans for swords central. Next door to the garda station on main st where the superquinn used to be.
Does anyone have any news / views / info on the complex or surrounding area?
A thread similar to the east wall one would be great...

Are you talking about a complex called Swords Village? Or are you calling Swords a village?

Swords is a town, the same as Malahide, Skerries etc.., People who wish to up the prices of the real estate seemingly now replace the word town with village at the drop of a pin.

Anyhow, the main street of Swords is a real fighting ground at night during the weekends. Day time the traffic is terrible, and it'll only get worse with the expansion of The Pavillions Phase 2. The Pavillions Phase 3 will be getting started straight after that (money bags Eircom eh!).

There are some nice pubs and resturants around the main street. The appartments look nice by the way, I've seen them in the paper, good luck with the purchase.

This thread should be in Dublin -> East anyhow. Swords is in County Dublin not Dublin City.

I didnt mean to get on anyones back by calling it a village. Fair enough its Co. Dublin, not much difference now anyway.

Thats a slight exagerration imo. It can get rowdy coz when the pubs & bars finish up - but its no O'Connell Street.

Would amend that to rush hour and lunchtime, but otherwise spot on. Some very poorly planned roads around the Pavillions entrances and exits.

Other road nightmares include the castle end of the main street and the Eddie Rockets Main street/River Valley junction.

Swords main street is the basic problem needs a 1-way or something similar.

Parking is fairly dreadful around the main street too.

In general though the Pav is a decent shopping center, Main street has good bars and pubs and restaurants. Gym down in Applewood and a smaller one above the Castle Shopping Center.

And thats a big difference how exactly???

I've lived under both and there's no major difference. I would personally say the Fingal councillors are a bit better at listening to the people. But there aint a lot in it.

You can get the 43 from Swords village to Coolock to the uci or the 33(goes through Swords vill) and that brings you to the omni in Santry.

Cool, i take it there a stop near by that comes bacl :)
Oh any idea how long the journey is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭secret_squirrel

43 to UCI Coolock 15-20 mins depending on traffic

41/b/c/ or 33/a/b To Omni - 30 Mins depending on traffic.

Urbus to Blanchardtown - 45-60min Depending on Traffic.

There will be a cinema opening in Swords in the Pavillions SC in the next year or so.

I work in Swords and have relatives there! To be honest the traffic is ALWAYS mental around the village. That road by the side of the garda station leading up to the Pavillions and main roundabout is a total joke.

Another example of build first and think about roads a few years later. Although, they have widened the road from the roundabout to the Pavilions.

Swords has a huge scumbag culture. There are alot of rough looking "howya's" roaming the village/town. At night its supposed to be pretty dodgy these days.

I know alot of people avoid it at night.

According to my cousin it has the highest rate of imbreding in Dublin too. (how true that is I don't know, but there are some strange looking people)

On the plus side, its handy to have the shopping centre beside you. As busy as the car park gets it never seems all that busy when your in it. Sometimes I wonder how it survives to be honest.

I live in Kinsealy and I’m in Swords quite a bit shopping/pubs….

I have never seen any trouble. If you call kids wearing hoodies scumbags then yes there are a few kids who hang around the town. They are no trouble at all. Myself and my friends have never had any trouble in Swords.

As for inbreeding, that’s just down right hilarious!! I actually laughed out loud when I read that.

I’d love to meet this cousin of yours and welcome him/her to the real world.

Haha yea, I laughed too! Although I have heard it a couple times to be honest! Also, Bray apparently!

    Ah swords isn't too bad.
