I've never used the sa 9 but my first af slr was an sa7. I was pleased with it at the time, it was a big jump from the centon which was my first slr. Sigma don't have a great rep when it comes to AF on their camera's, I didn't realise it was bad untill i picked up a Canon. In saying that I really don't know that the sa9's is like so can't comment. I'm guessing that herself got the camera fairly reasonably priced, because they dont hold their price at all, resale value will plummit. The Sd9 kit can now be got for under a grand here and much much less abroad, they were fairly expensive when introduced. The other downside is that you can only use Sigma lenses and accessories with it, Sigma lenses are on the whole are very good, I have several myself, but you may find that buying some extras may cost more because your stuck with the Sigma brand. I don't mean to sound negative about your prezzie, but generally Sigma are not the first choice of many slr buyers, mainly because Canon or Nikon can be got for much the same prices. In saying that, enjoy it, if it's a stepping stone before you go digital it will give you a good idea of what to look for in the future.

Its a kit with 2 lenses and it was bought on advice, new, for €220. I dont think i will be getting many Nikon and Canon's for that price, especially with two lenses.

The reason behind getting this one was just to get used to operating an SLR, its functions etc. If i wanna pursue it, which i most probably will, then i can spend the 1000 or whatever on a digital.

That's a good price anyway! I bought the SA7 2 years ago and I paid 500 euro ( I upgraded to the 28-200 lens). I had the same opinion as midgetlord, I wanted to develop my skills on the slr before going digital.

yeah, after a while I noticed that the AF on the SA7 can be quite slow (compared to Canon so I hear). Sometimes it can get confused and the focus ring just goes from close to infinity and back. All in all though I love the thing, it has some great features so I can asssume the SA9 is better again.
One thing I noticed, in terms of build quality of the lens (compared to other starter kits) Sigma lenses are solid..there is some weight difference between it and nikon and canon starter kits.

Have fun with the camera anyway!
