tigerdirect being at least €400 cheaper than komplett, OMG

Yes, but you stand a very high change of being caught for import duty when making an order of this size from the US.

I have used them before (when living in the US) and found the fine to deal with.

ahh, forgot about the duty, ahh well, there is a possibility of getting away with it.

The other posibilty is that as you placing your order, ring them up and tell them that thre will be something in it for them if the selotape a note to all of the parts like this

" Happy birthday 'insert name here',

    Have a great day"

    lol :D

I was thinking of buying from them to, because even if you do get charged custom duty at 21%, they are 40% cheaper than komplett, the only thing that put me off is that the money has to be wired to them, which seems a bit dodgy, and you dont get the rebates back so if you see a cpu for $200 its usually $240 less a $40 rebate

most american shops will put the full value of the package on the shipping label for insurance purposes. customs will then put a saddle on your back and ride you, e.g. charge you the appropriate amount of vat and duty. if you know someone living in the states you could get them to post it to you marked as gift !

ahh, forgot about the duty ....

I think you need to check out the Customs side closely ..... heard only today of a gal buying from the U.S. and getting a big big suprise ..... I would call your local customs office b/4 making a decision :o

I have a feeling both Duty and Vat are charged?

I bought a FX Pedal for my guitar from the US it cost me €250 and customs charged me €52 vat. Now i make sure all my items are marked as gifts;)

I bought a Graphics Card on Ebay Brand new sealed XFX 6800gt for €250 hopefully customs will see the big label " Merry Christmas..........."

Get them sent to a person in the states and have them send it to you under the guise of a returned rma eg, fixed parts. You cant get charged taxs twice :)

AFAIK even if it's marked as a gift, Customs can (or will) still stick you with a charge. I heard several people on the Joe Duffy show complaining of exactly that situation last week.

Do you seriously think customs are that stupid? A small package marked as a gift, perhaps, but a large box with electronic components? Come on people....

As hobie said too, I believe they also can add import duty along with VAT.
