I assume it is going ahead as the festival isn't kicking off until Thursday.

But for anyone answering questions in relation to this is a definitive way could you also tell me what is the story with Luke's offer of discount entry into the big game on Thursday?? Is this offer only to those who win tonight or tomorrow's tournie? Or is it anyone who makes the final table? Or somewhere in between??

The Fitz website has not been updated since Italia '90.

At the final table of the 50/50 on Friday Luke said he was offering the discount (€350 instead of 500) to anyone who made any final table up until the game on Thursday.

    Hope this helps.

Big D is correct in what he says. Sunday we also had the chance to take the subsidised entry no matter where you finished, and I did. Looking forward to it.

He's not worried about missing out himself BigD. He's worrying what I'm going to do with him now I know the bubble on Friday was effectively €290!! (€150 +€40 reg discount + €100 for 9th) and not what I previously thought €100 (and was therefore happy to take the bubble as winning my money back wasn't really an issue) when he was keeping the discount info to himself. I'll see you later Bmc....

I guess I'll just have to do the business tonight. Hopefully see you guys in there.:p

Olly, talk to Luke about it.

There a freeroll for the 500 on thurs afternoon ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭ollyk1

Olly, talk to Luke about it.

Not to worry Des, sufficiently motivated I managed to scrape into 6th last night and get my discount. Despite not having more then a starting stack until the end of level six :p Really looking forward to the big one :D

76 runners in total last night so there was a serious amount of play and the structure was much better than recent weeks with the 75/150 level and the 150/300 level back on the clock. Player comments have been acted on. Some hot 3 way dealing action went down at the end (€925 each) and Bmc and Peter (the ex dealer) managed to be there for that. Rounders123 took the hit for the team and went out on the bubble. I don't know how any other boardsters did

    Well, thank God for that...

We... eh... made up last night.

Great structure last night alright, still a good three tables left when I exited close to midnight, most people seemed to be in alright shape so tons of play. Course that didn't help my black Kings getting crushed by those mighty black sevens, all the money in pre-flop...good luck to those playing in the Fitz's festival, I'm off to Galway today for the holidays and may play in the big Westwood FO tonight.

Well played ollyk1 and Bmc good to see players of your ability do well:D . With A8 and just 2 behind me to get through i had to think i was ahead but i raised so much as to leave myself no viable escape shute and peter had to find a better hand behind me!.
Cheers for tipping me off about signing up for the bubble comp as my brain was disengaged as i was leaving. Well did you outlast that drunk guy!?

Good luck in the big one!

The "drunk guy" went out in seventh as far as I recall.

(Olly outlasted him by the skin of his teeth... :p )

    Cheeky :p

No worries. It's easily worth €50 that tournament on average and with my dead money in there too you'll have no problem taking it down :) Effectively the €50 you paid last night is still in "play"
Well did you outlast that drunk guy!?

He tried his level best to take me out calling with his Ace rag on an 8 high flop (I had an overpair) and getting his ace on the turn (then getting such a raging hard on that it was an easy fold for me) but he couldn't keep getting lucky and after calling my QQ with AJ and tangling with the big stack on a board of J996 with TT (big stack had a Jack) he eventually busted out in 7th. Inevitable.

Thanks for the good wishes in the big one, I don't play big buyins often but as an occasional thing to get that full on poker thrill i think its worth it.

    P.S.
    Well, thank God for that...

We... eh... made up last night.

    Don't you remember?

We both placed at the final table and both got tickets so there were no hard feelings...

What's the big deal? It's not wrong. Everyone else does it too when they can. Don't be so embarrassed!! You've got to learn to be more open!

By far and away this is the best value weekly tourny in dublin imho. if u get ur top up straight away its a 3,300 starting stack with 10-25 blinds and a 25min clock...beautiful. then they had both the 75-150 and 150-300 levels in, magic. my fave tourny by a mile. came around 20th, played as well as i could in circumstances. My little bro was involved in the 3 way deal, he had 5bbs goin to the final!!my lessons are paying off!!

Your little bro played an absolute blinder at the final table. Made some very well timed resteals and some good calls. The only mistake I saw him make all night was at the two table stage when he called my all-in for 5500 (blinds 300/600) for half his stack. But I'll take the credit for that - my bashful failure to maintain eye contact may have suckered him. Having said that he backed his conviction even in that hand and personally I admire that.

It is a great value tournie but no matter what the numbers it always seems to go on until 3am, thats why I only like to play it when there is going to be serious numbers (76 runners last night). This is from a wage slave point of view though!! :o

So ill tell him u said he was a lucky fish then!!Yeh i saw that, he called your all in with 66 when you had QQ, we bereated him for it after unfairly but i think he knew it was silly afterwards. Ive seen your face a bit around the fitz Olly, very very solid player imho. Good luck in the big one in on thurs... a little too rich for my blood.

:D I congratulated him myself as he was leaving with the filthy lucre. The cream rose to the top and I could have no arguments with how the thing finished last night.

Thanks for the good wishes in the big one Willis I'm playing it as a shot to nothing and hopefully I'll be able to enjoy it.

Is there a schedule of games that are on over the period? Assuming it is a bit different to usual times and games?

Here you go, Fitz xmas schedule from their flyer

    Thurs 22: 500 + 40 freezeout
    Fri 23rd: scalps - 55 + 5, 3 rebuys (or 2 + topup) 50 each
    Mon 26th: 100 + 10, with 1 rebuy/topup
    Thurs 27th: End of month 250 + 20
    Sun 1st: 40 + 5, 5 rebuys (or 4 + topup)

I assume all other games are as normal, but this may not be the case.
