Right... just so there's actually some info here...
Described by The New Yorker as 'one of the greatest minds of the 20th century', Noam Chomsky will give the 2006 Amnesty Lecture in the Shelbourne Hall, RDS D.4 at 7pm on January 18th, the theme of which will be 'The War on Terror'.

    ..
The lecture is open to the public, and tickets will be free.

Bad news guys - I went looking for tickets a few weeks ago and just got this today from Amnesty..
    Thank you for your correspondence.

If your email was in connection with the Noam Chomsky lecture, please be
aware that at this stage it is impossible for us to reply to everyone personally.

You may have already received correspondence from us, which said that
priority for tickets would go to Amnesty members. Please be assured that
this is still the case - and that all names have been recorded in the
order in which the application for tickets was made.

However, we have been inundated with thousands of applications and are
unable to now reply to people who contacted us on or after December 3rd.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE OFFICE AS WE ARE UNABLE TO TAKE YOUR CALLS OR EMAILS IN CONNECTION WITH THIS LECTURE.

We will be mailing tickets to all those members who applied in time during
    the first week in January.

    Thank you for your time,

IF anyone in Amnesty is reading this - can't you book a bigger hall and sell a load of tickets!?!? THOUSANDS of applications!! come on!

Y'know he's also doing talks in UCD while he's over. If you know anyone going there you should try get them to get you a ticket for one of his lectures.

Amnesty members are highly prioritised so just join and give a small donation.

Any chance that might be on his linguistics work or do you know where I could find that out?

tickets are free, its not a money earner.

Indeed - I just think they could notice the massive interest and fill a big venue with an admission to cover the costs.

I'd love to hear the man speak and would be happy to pay for it.
