My new Seagate 250 gig HD arrived yesterday and i only had a chance to install it now. But when i put it in and put in my windows cd i followed all the steps to the point where it started to formatt. But for about an hour it just hung at 0% formatting

    Any idea why?

Did you install the drivers for SATA that came with the HDD when prompted during the first part of the windows install?

XP needs to load drivers for some forms of SATA disk.
In the install there is a screen that prompts you to hit F9(or something similiar) if you wish to install any third party drivers. It appears very early in the install process....
Check the seagate site for faqs/downloads for this drive.
