Im paying 45Eur to see the Dropkick Murphys on Friday when they support the Pogues. Anyone else going to see the DM and think they should have put on their own little show in Vicar Street or something.....I mean for a band that sign about Ireland so much you'd reckon they would come to it more often wouldnt u? ;) Theres about a gap of a week between their last date in England and the one in the Point so why cant they just play a gig in some dive in Dublin on the 22nd for their REAL fans who cant afford to shell out 45Eur for a ticket for them for a 20min set, or me! :(

as far as i remember they played the ambassador around this time last year, then tbmc the year before and the village the year before that.

i'm sure they are gonna show for the gig

Where did the idea that they weren’t going to show up come from?

Someone actually mentioned it to me last night and I'd love to know where this "information" is coming from. I reckon its just the usual rumour mill churning out well sourced opinions

well they showed wasnt mad about them, but they played a kicka$$ version of johnny b. goode in their soundcheck which they didnt play in the show, it was upsetting coz that would have got the crowd going.

They've had better gigs. Pogues were rather good.

Ya have to be jokin. I got kicked outta the pit because a bouncer shoved me in the back and I pushed him back before I realised it was him. One thing lead to another and he told me he was gonna "****in bust me" (me being at least 2 feet taller than him), I got a bit lippy and he kicked me out. Fair enough I was diggin my own hole there but the security at gig's shouldn't be "****in busting" anyone.

Sick of MCD and the amateur knackers they employ.

who else would do the job and keep people in line at the same time?

and aiken security are much worse

I've met plenty of bouncers who can get their point across while containing their own tempers. Power trippers are going to needlessly get the punters hurt.

Dropkicks were meh - much better in the Ambassador earlier in the year, they played well but seemed a bit static for my liking.

Pogues were great, they really were - but Shane was too pickled by then end, the noises he was making no longer even vaguely resembled words!! Still, really had fun, Sick Bed of Cu Cullen and Dirty Oul' Town were particularly good.
