Forfeited bonus?

My brother has just handed in his notice.

His boss just told him that he had forfeited his performance based bonus for the year....this is despite the fact that my bro has worked the entire year the bonus is for....

it's worth about 6 -8k :eek:

Any advice or is the bonus purely a discretionary thingie?

I think it's discretionary. I don't even get one

It's purely discretionary. It's probably conditional on completing a yearly review at the end of the year, and if you don't complete the review...you don't get the bonus.

The only way he could claim it is if it's in his contract.

Could he not have waited a few days and then everything would've been hunky dory!
