    *** 22.12.05 JOE STRUMMER 3RD ANNIVERSARY / TOXIC XMAS BASH, Voodoo, 8pm, 10euro

Clash Jam Wollop / Paranoid Visions / Bootleg Bootboys / Dead Girls And Boys

    Paranoid Visions.

"after almost 13 years on a shelf, the long lost paranoid visions "bollox to xmas" collection of recordings is finally getting an airing. Remastered, revamped, re sleeved and fully completed the album will be available principally at the toxic xmas party 22nd December in the voodoo lounge where the band will be joined by clash jam wallop giving their tribute to the late great joe strummer."

Bollox to Xmas is a very mature and serious collection of "classic" xmas songs and hymns slightly altered and played with the subtlety one would expect from Irelands longest serving punk rock pioneers.

amongst the 17 tracks, reworkings include:
    hosanna in a hiace
    12 months at christmas
crusty claws is stalking the town
    harp the herald angels drinking
    white xmas

the album also includes 3 original festive tributes and a charming death metal version of silent night. The 15 minute story of christmas as told and imagined by a suprisingly witty deko is also present.

The band have resisted the temptation to accept any of the offers to release the album and have a lead single to be taken off it as it was patently obvious to them that the labels failed dismally to undersand the motivation or humour of the album.

"whilst we understand there is a difference between the dead kennedys and the toy dolls, it seems that other "musos" don't...the way they were talking we would have been marketed as a novelty band like, I dunno...McFly or something (aren't they a joke)"

therefore the band are limiting the release (in a similar manner that cream eggs are only available seasonally) for the moment, but will have an official release of it in 2006 through the new licencing agreement the band have for their FOAD label with a company who does understand the subtleties of credibility and the various nuances of punk rock.

Next up will be the long lost "live in Limerick" album and a new album will be recorded in early 2006, with a provisional working title of "what do you call 4 pricks with the bollocks missing.....take that 2006"

Was an ok gig, not really a fan of Clash Jam Wallop at all...

Heard Frank was trying to hunt me down, luckily my ninja skillz were too much for him.

Clash Jam wallop were crap as tribute bands go, don't know the Clash atall, like watching a wedding tribute band aka The Wedding singer.

Paranoid Visions not bad cept the microphones were too low/

Bootleg bootboys were a laugh and DGAB are too melodic for my tastes but bass player is good.

Oh and that ****ing dj in between bands kept playing commercial metal ****.

Good gig. All bands were good.

Clash Jam Wallop aren't the best at covering the Clash, but still enjoyable to watch. Don't usually get to see many Clash songs live, so I'll take it.

PV were better than last time, but they need to be the headline to really be good. Newtownism was class though.

Bootleg Bootboys, I'd like to see again, playing all songs I know. Only knew a few of them.

DGAB better than last few times I saw them imo. Were there new songs? Boards christmas night out ftw.
