Hi, Theres a possibility that I could be changing jobs to a company in Citywest. However, I have just bought a house in Clonsilla. Does anyone know how easy...or difficult....it is to get from Clonsilla/Clonee area over to Citywest? I would be planning to drive... Any info would be great.K

    Hi Kellie
I used to do this trip every day. It took me 45 minutes driving, sometimes less. The M50 isn't an option though, unless maybe at the weekends. Neither is Lucan-Newcastle, I sometimes got badly caught in traffic there. The best way is Clonee-Leixlip-Celbridge rd-Newcastle-Rathcoole. It's mostly smaller back roads so you wont be travelling very fast but there are no real places to get stuck in heavy traffic. I found it was the only route that got me consistently in on time, it never took more than 45 minutes.
I found it no problem travelling to Citywest every day, when driving it takes you less time to get over there than it would into town

I travel Blanch\Citywest everyday and it's a pain. M50 is out of the question.
I drive the backroads over to Lucan and accross the M4. No slower than the M50, most often faster and no road toll to pay.
Allow 45 minutes each way, perhaps more in the evening.

It will get worse before it gets better:
M50/N3 is being upgraded so God help us while the upgrade is in process.
There is a road being built all the way from Citywest to connect with the M4 beside Liffey Valley but that won't be available until the end of 2006 at the earliest.
The crossroads at the M4 beside the Superquinn in Lucan is going to be upgraded to a grade seperated interchange before this road at Liffey Valley is complete according a guy I phoned in the Roads dept. of SDCC.
Once the M50 and these two interchanges are done then the trip will be nice but things look grim for the next year at least. Journey times will go up by maybe a quarter of an hour before they drop down to an acceptable journey time of 30 mins.
