just renewed mine, i was with aa for the past 4 yrs or so, got a better policy from fbd insurance, less policy excess and it was about 30 euro cheaper. no harm in trying them for a quote

Second that, FBD came in at least €40-50 cheaper than anyone else

123.ie gets my vote too, was €150 cheaper than my renewal quote (almost a 30% saving) - fbd were also cheaper but not quite as much. Definitely worth shopping around.

FBD for me also. I tried a few of the online companies for qoutes about 3 months ago and at the end of the day the renewal with FBD was the best

Another vote for 123.ie - WAY cheaper than any other quote I got and was sorted out v. quickly. Good for life insurance too.

I'm with FBD too, although that said I was too lazy to ring around when I renewed last year. Mines up in Feb, so I might compare it before renewing..

I wanted to up the contents value & it ended up costing me less the higher the value, which suits me fine! I mentioned the figure to the girl on the phone & she said if I upped the value a bit, the quote would go down by €25.

I am with AA - well, they are the brokers, the insurer is actually AG (I think...). I was paying twice as much to AIB for two years...

I actually have AA for my car insurance also. Great service.

My parents have their house insured with FBD. and the farm machinery...and their car. so i got my car covered for very little with them too. best definately all around imo.

Never take out house/car insurance or life assurance cover with a bank. They are always way dearer than anywhere else.

This is a small part of the reason why AIB are making over a million euro a day profit

I got a renewal quote from allianz direct in a letter last week . It was higher than I expected so I rang up and complained. The girl I spoke to told me to go online and see what quote I got on the website and that they would match it. I did and got my renewal at E60 less than originally quoted and E20 less than the other cheapest quote I got. Maybe worth ringing up your usual insurance company and giving out !

I normally check around every year for insurance.
This time last year went with 123.ie, got my renewal qoute earlier this month
and the qoute was approx 90 euro cheaper than last year however insurance
company had been changed to a company called wellington. They said I could stay with my original insurance company which was alliance but that it
cost an additional 50 euro. I then got a qoute from alliance over the internet myself and the qoute came in about 15 euro cheaper than the price quoted by 123.ie for wellington. I also checked with FBD but in my particular case they were not competive. So I went with alliance online.
Sorry for the long winded repy.
