Can anyone tell me the cheapest place to buy a pc desk? The only place I can think of is Argos

    Haaaaaavey Nooooooohmans do them too.

Also, anywhere that does flat pack will sell them (I'd say b&q, homebase, etc.).

Other places that have been mentioned are the search facility and viking direct.

If there was any chance you could have the use of one wall in say a bedroom etc here is what I would do ......

By a few lengths of 'Spur' style slotted shelving uprights and run them from desk height to a foot or so below the ceiling .....

get some shelf support brackets ..... 18" and 12" and maybe a few shorter ones ....

pop down to somewhere like B&Q and a few get lengths of Kitchen work top equal to the full length of the wall you have ..... one length at 24" wide will serve as a desk top ...... a length of 18" wide material will act as your main machine shelf .... finally a 12" wide (or so) will give you another shelf size .... you don't need the most expensive type ! .....

Some multi sockets .... a lamp or two .... and some plastic storage bins will complete your set up .....

now you don't have to buy this all at once but when you have the full kit this is what you could end up with ..... (I love it !!! :p )

Most of the computer desks you buy are s.hit. You are better off making it out of a couple of lengths of wood.

I was in Atlantic Homecare, in Liffey Valley, there a week ago, and picked up a flatpack corner PC desk for €99. Still haven't assembled it though.
This thing is huge.... I "just barely" squeezed it through the hatchback.
But they had loads of other desks too, real basic ones if you want.

Atlantic seems much better than B & Q or Woodies for flatpack furniture.

    regards,
    Owen

thats great lads, flatpack would be handy alright. Argos have a decent corner table for €70. I'm working with limited space you see 54" x 34". I don't want one of those annoying ones with a pull out keyboard shelf.

If I had the skills to just make a plain table that exact size I would.

nice setup there hobie. I'd like something like that allright...only deeper, so as to accomodate my monitor being in front of me.

    Thanks Khannie ......

I think you can get wider 'Kitchen work tops' almost up to 1.0 mtr (almost 40" wide)

I noticed in B&Q recently that they will give you 5 free cuts (lengths and widths) ...... so you could buy a full length of material and go home with all the pieces you need for a project, cut to finish size :p

Of course you could also get a LCD screen

Worth checking out second hand office furniture stores. I picked up decent desk with drawers (160 cm x 80 cm ) in mint condition for 120.
