I have just recieved my purchase from play.com - the complete only fools and horses collection, each dvd has a picture on it which fits in with the background, it is done like a photo album. but one the dvds is blank its just silver with no writing on it, no picture, its not supposed to be blank and it really takes from the set and im just wonder how do i go about getting this replaced, is it directly to play.com or do i contact the manufactures?

Please help as this is a Christmas present for somebody and i dont want them to be disappointed...

Had a quick browse and found this on a thread on an Only Fools And Horses forum here:
    Hello.

I just got my box set from Play today. The third series disc is missing the picture on the front like all the others have. It is just a blank looking disc but series 3 plays on both sides.

Now, I know it's only a small thing, and not really a problem, but it bugs me because it doesn't fit with the rest of the box. Has anyone else had this problem?

I only ask in case there has been an address posted somewhere to send the single disc to. If not then it means sending the whole box back.....

A reply then goes onto say:
We had this conversation before and, apparently, it's supposed to be like that - no need to send it back, as they're all the same. It's just a double-sided DVD.

It's bug me to tho; I like everything to be co-ordinated, but that's a whole other story.

    And further on...
We sent this pack back thinking it was faulty, and recieved same again, got intouch with supplier who did indeed confirm that was how the manufacturers had made it . I feel it spoils the look of the whole collection and am very very disappointed. If they meant it to be double sided why did they slot it into a bit with a backing picture, the damn scrooges !!!

So.. it's supposed to be like that! Hope this helps... tis a strange one though!

If you look close there is probably writing in the inner circle on both sides. The original goodfellas dvd was double sided, terrible idea for films, having to turn over 1/2 way through. I presume a sitcom has some on one side, more on the other, with no split of an episode.

Double sided discs for TV releases are popular in the US.

I think they're a good thing - certainly help keep the price down.

I got the three disc Miami Vice Season 1 in Walmart for $30.
The eight disc region 2 version was something like €64.99 in HMV.

walmart are super cheap... you can't compare them to HMV. (or any irish prices in general)
    and besides, 3x2 = 6 dvd5 discs
so in theory you're getting an extra 2 discs with the region 2 one (even more so if they're dual layer discs...)

Miami Vice was $35 in Best Buy.

    There are many other examples

NYPB Blue Season 1 $14 in Walmart, $28 in Best Buy, €79.99 in HMV. Not double sided discs.
Magnum 3.1415926... Seasons 1 and 2 $35 each in Best Buy, €49.99 in HMV.

Aside from the US, play.com and sendit.com prove how inflated DVD prices are here.
