    What the hell happened there?

Whoever voted for anyone other than The Shakes should be ashamed of themselves - seriously.

Regardless of all that, the judges are really starting to get on my tits.

I never liked Linda Martin the haggared hasbeen, although I admired her for giving "Iguana Bitch" so much stick. I would have freaked too.

Brendan crosses the line between being a cocky pseudo-intellectual journalist and an arrogant conceited rude offensive know-it-all charlatan git.

The other guy just bores me although I suspect he has more of a right to be a talent judge than either of the other 2 shams.

The Shakes saw me voting for the first time ever and Im still seriously miffed at the Irish public for not recognising their koolness. .. No Im not one of their mates..
    Leman and Xerowhatever.. completely boring.

He's always been this way don't worry about it, it did'ent take some reality TV show to turn him into a git.
Perhaps it would be more productive to keep all your a star discussions to one thread?

Not much into TV but I caught 10 - 15 mins of this rediculous show last night. I actually thought that Linda Martin wasnt too bad... but that gormless tw@t Brendan whateverhisname wrecked my head. Maybe its his job to be the Simon Cowell of the three but he bordered on the offensive. They made a point in the show saying that if some hot chick walked i, she'd nearly get to go through without even singing. Then on comes a guy who had a better standard of singing to some of those morons, but was told by Brendan 'you are good looking enough' ... fair enough, showbusiness and all but it was his tone that really got my goat. Its amazing how desparate some of those peopl are too....
I dunno - take it off the air... its tripe!

I knew The Shakes hadn't a chance, why?, because they were from the North. Its all about the campaign you get going for votes, local schools, family and friend network. You just simply wouldn't have enough watching up there. Very little about the music, in fact when we should be hearing the artist perform there's a voice over telling you how to vote and when that finishes you get to find out what kind of house they live in and what their dogs is called, its all about the money with these shows not talent. I still watch them though.

    The Shakes were ok.

    Thought Leman were better tbh.

TCPIP- those U2 wannabe poser twats from UCD youre referring to are called Leman. I can understand why people like them though, yer man is obviously a bit dishy for the teeny boppers and the grannys alike, and they can all sing and play. I just found them quite bland personally.

I thought The Shakes had a more contemporary sound and lots of attitude.

I suspect you have a point. I think "real music heads" turn their noses up at these sort of competitions to some degree.
It makes sense, considering the state of the judges, and the amount of talent-free wannabes who show up to audition.

As pathetic as some of these wannabes are, I cant stand to see Brendan be so offensive to them. Ive read some of his articles and enjoyed him on TV plenty of times before, but he is really being a prick to some of these kids.

Anyway, I hope The Shakes benefit from their 15 minutes of fame and somehow get some decent publicity and gigs from that appearance.

Although not my cup of tea, Id sooner see Leman do well over that metal band xerowhatever, who I found really naff, especially the guy bending over and pointing.. cringe!!

Elsewhere I hope that blonde Kate Bush bird from cork does well, I also like the Black girl, not the minger- the other one.;)

All the bands had to submit demos to be chosen to audition - if the judges didn't like some of the bands why the hell did they let them audition? Just so they could have bands to say bad things about?

And Thomas Black's comment about drummer's was juvenile and idiotic, this from a guy who has only ever signed no hopers.

Spot on I think this is what I find most annoying. In comparisonto him, Linda Martins contributions look like wonderful pearls of wisdom. he's a fool who likes the pretty girls and knows nothing about music (apart from that 'jesus in the house' song of course). His one trick seems to be to interrupt singers (of vaious abilities) after 2 seconds and goes on rants saying things such as 'do you actually think you can sing, I mean really, do you actually think that?'.

Whenever another judge challanges him, brendan tries to make his point by being louder and more and more offensive. I almost feel embarrassed for him, its like watching the office.

The other judges are a bit of a joke but at least they can make their valid/invalid points without resorting to childish slagging. H'es just playing to the cameras. theres no pattern to his bullying either, he calls mediocre singers brutal and he tries to put through every girl who comes in caked with makeup and fake tan.

I can't believe he's a journalist, why does anyone pay him for his rediculous opinions. I'd love to see him get taken to pieces by someone one day because he seems to have such a weak character I'd say his childish reactions would be great television.

Anyway, sorry, end of rant. I suppose frustration is what I deserve for watching that **** anyway. Back on topic - I thought Leman were brilliant! I'd love to hear some more of them, hope they do well. I'm sure they won't though (in you're a star anyway) since they're from dublin and won't benefit from the usual tribal voting that goes on.

    Thomas Black's comment about drummer

i thought it was funny but for the wrong reasons, just because slaggin off drummers like that shows complete musical ignorance. He dug his own hole with that one.

I really digged that band- like Clannad meets Beta Band .. feckin kool if u ask me.
