Creda Panel Heater Ticking

I've got one of those standard Creda wall mounted panel heaters with timer in my apartment. The timer on the panel has begun to tick very loudly and is quite annoying, the element does not need to be on for it to occur. The only way to stop it is to obviously turn of the switch at the mains, but it being a chilly winter I don't think I'll like doing that too often

Just wondering if anybodies come across this before and whether you have a quick fix for it before I start unmounting it from the wall disconnecting the wiring from the mains

    Thanks

    dave
